The Anderson Group Donates Red Bud Tree to City of Reading for Arbor Day

04/25/2008

The Anderson Group recently received a “Greener Than We Think” Franklin Award for Excellence for our “Ever Greener” holiday card. The card was printed on recycled paper imbedded with seeds that can be planted in the ground. To celebrate the award and “grow” with the planting theme, The Anderson Group took another small step toward being environmentally conscious by donating a tree to the City of Reading.

The Anderson Group contacted David Ruyak, City of Reading Arborist, to see if we could plant a tree on Arbor Day, April 25, 2008. Not only did the City say “yes” and welcome the tree donation, but they invited us to be part of Reading’s Arbor Day Ceremony where the City celebrated its 23rd designation as Tree City USA. In attendance were Mayor Tom McMahon, members of the Reading Shade Tree Commission, WFMZ Channel 69, the Reading Eagle newspaper, City Arborist David Ruyak and Tim Dugan, PA DCNR Bureau of Forestry.

The Anderson Group, represented by Keith Heberling, Kathy Peek and Marcia Fortley, was proud to be a part of this special day. The Red Bud tree is located by the “anchor” in City Park next to the Berks County Conservancy on 11th Street.
